Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used systems of healing in the world, originated in China some 3,500 years ago. It is a therapy that allows the body to restore balance and recover naturally.
Research shows that acupuncture helps to regenerate cells, decrease pain, reduce inflammation and improve circulation. Currently, the remarkable benefits of acupuncture have been recognized worldwide. It may improve the conditions for a range of common ailments, including arthritis, neck/shoulder/back pain, headache/migraine, anxiety, hypertension, allergies, and gastrointestinal conditions.
The most common form of acupuncture is body acupuncture that involves inserting fine, single use sterilized needles to certain points of the body energy channels. It is practically painless because the needles are extremely thin (0.16 -0.35 mm in diameter) and even thinner than human hair! The acupuncturists at our clinic have mastered the technique of inserting these tiny, delicate needles into your body with minimal discomfort. When the needles are inserted, you may feel mild tingling around the site, warmth or heaviness, or even nothing at all.
Single-use disposable needles are used in our clinic.
Apart from body acupuncture, we perform scalp acupuncture for neurological disorders (such as multiple scoliosis), motor and sensory disabilities and degenerative eye diseases.
Electro-acupuncture will be used in some cases to help stimulating the affected area or/and distal meridian points. This involves connecting small clips to the acupuncture needles to attach to a device that generates continuous electric pulses. The frequency and intensity of the electric impulses are adjusted according to the conditions being treated. This can enhance traditional acupuncture treatment and is especially beneficial for musculoskeletal problems and weight loss.
We also offer non-needle acupuncture treatments such as laser acupuncture, ear acupuncture with herbal seeds, moxibustion and infrared lamp therapy.
The number of treatments required depends on your conditions. In most cases, people experience a reduction in symptoms within a few sessions. The idea of acupuncture is to restore the natural balance of energy inside your body. Once the balance is restored, the body can heal itself.
