Massage Therapy

Our clinic provides different types of massage therapy to suit your needs. These include Remedial Massage, Tui Na (Chinese Massage) and Pediatric Massage (Shiatsu).

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is a treatment modality that manipulates the soft tissues of the body including movement for a specific therapeutic effect, rather than a general therapeutic. Our remedial massage therapist will examine your condition to understand the causes of problems, and will tailor a treatment plan to suit. The treatment may cause pain and discomfort for a short period of time due to deep tissue stimulation, but the results are definitely worth it. Assessment will be done after the treatment to ensure progress of healing is on track.

Tui Na (Chinese Massage)

Tui Na therapy is a form of Chinese style remedial massage. It is a hands-on body treatment that uses Chinese Taoist and martial arts principles to bring the body to balance. The practitioner may brush, knead, roll/press and rub different locations of the body, including the areas between joints to open the body's defensive Qi and get the energy moving in both the meridians and the muscles. The main difference between Tui Na massage and conventional remedial massage is that Tui Na works holistically for the whole body and conventional remedial massage gives more specific therapeutic effect.

Cupping and Gua Sha may sometimes be included in remedial massage and Tui Na sessions to enhance the treatment outcomes. Massage therapy is employed in our clinic to ease the conditions of sciatica, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, stiff neck, headaches, sports injuries, back pain, knee pain, arthritis and many more other complaints.

Pediatric Massage (Shiatsu)

The pediatric massage performed in our clinic is based on Japanese tradition following the ancient meridian theory. It is a very gentle therapy specifically designed for infants and young children with primary focus on inner equilibrium and energetic development. Pediatric massage stimulates the children when they need stimulation and calms them when they need to settle down. The gentle touch helps to bring about emotional balance and create a feeling of safety.

During the massage session, the therapist uses fingers or the palms of the hands to touch the baby or child. Gentle and deep pressure is applied to particular points along the meridians. Strengthening the weak areas and loosening the blocked areas would help balance the body and achieve free flow of energy.

Pediatric massage is used to treat minor ailments such as night crying, interrupted sleep, digestion disorders, wind and reflux colic. It may also strengthen the immune system and reduce the vulnerability to infections. Pediatric massage is beneficial to children with fear, anxiety, learning difficulties, autism, developmental coordination disorder (DCD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

During the pediatric massage session, you can learn some simple massage techniques to be used at your own time for your child. They can be used regularly to calm and relax your child with specific purposes such as stopping a cry or preventing a tantrum.

Finding the inner equilibrium, your child may reach the full potential of life.
